I amazed my 85 year old mother-in-law, Norwich native Betty Ann Stoudt Day with my technical capabilities.  Using my cell phone, I showed her EXACTLY where the float was that we were waiting for.  My husband and son, both named Keegan, were on the East Putnam Community Church float, decorated as a mini-church.  Using Google maps, and the Latitude App,  we could see they were 0.9 miles back, and

Spent yesterday walking the freedom trail. Today we are at the museum. There is a butterfly house.  I would like to visit again and have K3 stay in one room all day and use the displays to supplement his Homeschool studies.  We love to saturate ourselves in a topic.  For example, when we get back into studying maps, the display at this museum for geography is awesome.  So many hands on activities

My musical tastes have always been vast, and I would say I like everything except rap.  I enjoy mostly bluegrass, Irish, and Classical.  I didn't know there was such a style called Trance music.  It started when I got my new cell phone and as I sampled each ringtone to set it up, these rhythmic clips made my 12 month old start to dance, in ways I've never seen any baby do before.  What fun! Mrs. Evelyn Rose Bois, 89, is visiting the children today. She attended this schoolhouse as a young girl, as did her father, and grandfather! She has lots of history to share. The children first got the grand tour, including the proper use of the privee. The children raised the flag, sang, "My Country 'Tis Of Thee" then entered the school in single file, girls first. Today we made mayonnaise.  We ran out of the staple this morning, so today is as good a day as any to create some fresh and learn a little about measuring and operating kitchen equipment with my young homeschooler. Yesterday, K3 started with Art with Gilly from 9am to 11am. Today, my son asked me the same question again...what is "area?" What does "area" mean? Everytime, I say the same thing, one side of the square multiplies by the other. This was so simple.First, we tied ribbon around a pine cone to hang. We then used a glue that came with glitter in it and dotted the pine cones and spread it all over with a paint brush.Finally, we hung them directly on the tree to dry.

En route...Stopped in Natick at the Lego Store. First time at the Lego Store and so much fun to shop! However, we learned a lesson about the Natick Mall, don't visit again on a weekend before the holiday. Unfortunately, my husband had to drop us off because there wasn't any parking available. Today we checked out of the Hampton Inn in Arlington, VA and BigK dropped off me and K3 at the Capitol. Knowing parking would be impossible, he drove around from noon until 2pm at any sites we missed while we took a 45 minute tour of the Capitol, followed by a breezy walk through the Library Of Congress. The Capitol has giant statues of prominent men in history from each state, two per state.

Rain. Therefore, this would be museum day. The Smithonian is much more than would be possible in a few days... Where to start? We started where we parked, at the sculpture museum. We left at 615am from North Haven. I drove for 2 hrs and then we stopped for 45 min to refuel the van and take from the snack stash. When we lived in Maine, I was convinced they were trying to make alkies of us. You could buy wine anywhere, gas stations, Walmart, at anytime of the day. In CT, I'm used to no buying on Sundays, or after 8am, no wine in supermarkets. But in Maine, you could even buy one can of beer if that's all you had the money for. Carding you? Forget it. Having these 'no maintenance pets' turned out to be one big day of maintenance, making up for the none, no effort, thus far.
